At Perdue Farms, we go to great lengths to protect the PERDUE® trademark and ensure our name, logo and brand are not misused for fraudulent activities.
It has come to our attention that scammers are targeting existing and potential suppliers of goods to Perdue, by making requests for product quotes and fabricating fraudulent purchase orders purporting to originate from Perdue. The scam appears to operate in the following way: the supplier will receive an email requesting a quotation for goods or a fraudulent lead. Once the quotation has been provided, a purchase order is emailed to the supplier that uses a Perdue logo and names Perdue employees. The purchase order will instruct delivery to an address not affiliated with Perdue. The purchase order may be accompanied by a fraudulent credit application. After shipping the item(s), the supplier never receives payment and is unable to retrieve the shipped products.
For your safety, if you receive a purchase order, email or other documents from an organization claiming to be Perdue and asking to place orders for products, please closely review such documents for the following indicators of fraud:
- Incorrect domain name used to send emails and purchase orders. A valid Perdue email address will always end in @perdue.com. Hovering over the email address may reveal the originator’s email address if different from that displayed. An example of an incorrect domain being used by scammers is @perduefarmcorp.net, but other domains have been used.
- The delivery address is not a Perdue address. Fraudulent addresses will typically be a domestic residence, a self-storage facility, or an abandoned location.
- Poorly written message with grammatical errors.
- Use of a false or unknown contact from Perdue. If requests for quotations or purchase orders are received from a new Perdue contact that raises your suspicion, please email Purchasing.Inquiry@perdue.com to verify the validity of the request. Do not contact the name/number used on the email/purchase order.
- Phone numbers not associated with Perdue.
- Unusually large quantities are requested.
- Rush to ship priority/overnight.
If you suspect fraudulent activity or are the victim of such a scam, please contact your local law enforcement.
